You can’t take bong rips while watching a movie in your room. You can’t use cannabis as medication – even if you have a prescription – unless you eat it. You can’t even step outside for a quick smoke – it always has to be an ordeal just because it’s marijuana. We where doing a bicycle tour and came across this friendly Coffeeshop in an industrialised and safety aware port. The security man was great to talk to and learn about more remote coffee shops policies. We were invited into the lounge area – very cool spot on a nice day.

Kadinsky Coffeeshops have good products – try the Maui Haze, Super Silver Haze and Trans Himalaya hash – as recommended by some locals. Kadinsky also has really good hash brownies that are extra potent and taste amazing. Many claim that Amnesia is the best coffeeshop in Amsterdam but we will leave that decision to you. It is a small coffeeshop, so be prepared to wait for a bit if you order more than just weed here. No worries though, the shop is cozy and has a very chill atmosphere. We ended up sitting on the front windowsill and enjoyed the product while watching pedestrians.

Located in the city’s historic Red Light District, The Bulldog quickly became a symbol of the city’s newfound tolerance towards cannabis. Unfortunately, at the time Bulldog seemed like the epitome of a touristy coffeeshop. It was well-known in the city, and every time we walked by a Bulldog location, the place was packed – often with obnoxious, rowdy frat-boy types from the U.S., U.K. Of course, plenty of other coffeeshops in Amsterdam were like this, but because Bulldog is so well-known, we avoided it entirely.

And in freedom, most people find sin. Great cafe and great place to people watch outside. The best bulldog establishment by far. I find the other one too commercial being in the center of the red light.

Visited for breakfast one day also and the food was great. All the staff are really friendly, and there are good cocktail options. There were small tables available for 3 people still he mentioned that it’s reserved for bigger group. We were informed we are supposed to get drinks if we are sitting in the bar. On trying to order a Coca Cola, he informed us rudely that he meant Alcoholic drinks and asked us to leave. The Bulldog is perhaps the most touristy coffeeshop chain in Amsterdam and most of the locals hate it.

Thought it was going to be an ice cream bar ,turns out it was more like a fudge bar. The other establishments in the chain are the Bulldog Palace, the Rockshop, the Mack and the Energy. Henk planned the opening of the Ex-Police Station coffeeshop on April Fools’ Day 1985, together with our Grand Café The Bulldog Palace. It was intended as the ultimate prank on the Amsterdam police department to open a coffeeshop inside their former headquarters.

Here at Lilly Likes we have taken it upon ourselves to rate the coffeeshops of Amsterdam for your reading amusement. The Bulldog was one of the first on the list… just as it was one of the first of its kind, in our fair city. We turn to our categories for a unique blow-by-blow of the Bulldog, Amsterdam… where the brand first made its home. Dutch law does not allow coffeeshops to serve alcohol. Very interesting spot with a bar serving some decent cold beer.

The Bulldog Havri on Leidsebuurt opened on the funniest day of the year in 1985, April Fool’s day (so planned of course). Housed in the former police station, located on Amsterdam’s most popular square. Everything is within walking distance or easily accessible by tram which stops right in front of the door.

Making this our go to place in Amsterdam. Visited in daylight, friendly staff, good breakfast and great location. A good “welcome to Amsterdam” I’ll say. As a tourist customer service is always an important factor.

The barman was rude to us and we won’t be coming back. I ordered a beer (big size) and the barman said that if my girlfriend doesn’t drink too we can’t stay, so we left. We were not even occupying any table, we were standing close to the bar. We have never seen this in any other bar, really disappointing experience. Tourist trap and the mostly rude staff. There are many other coffee shops in Amsterdam that offer better products, friendly staff and fair price.

Many Amsterdam locals say that Boerejongens Coffeeshops have the best and strongest buds. These coffeeshops are in many different locations all over Amsterdam. As per law, you can only buy 5 grams per transaction and none of the coffeeshops will ever sell you more than this. One of the more quiet Bulldog stores in Amsterdam. Located at a very short walking distance from Amsterdam Central Station.

The place is amazing and the history behind it is even more so! Good atmosphere, good music, good service and very good weed ! If you are in Amsterdam, it is a place you must visit. The design catches your attention, right after the smell. Friendly staff, good quality, decent prices. There’s a nice stop outside if you want to relax.

Kashmir is a cozy, bohemian neighborhood coffeeshop in Oud-West on Jan Pieterheijestraat. It’s our go-to coffeeshop, not only ’cause it’s in the neighborhood, but because it’s the only coffeeshop where you can both drink and smoke indoors. Paradox Cafe is a small, cozy Amsterdam Coffeeshop that’s situated just off the Rozengracht. Although the coffeeshop is just the bulldog Coffeeshop a stone’s throw from the Anne Frank Museum, it attracts relatively few tourists – ideal for those who want a more relaxed experience. Amsterdam appeals to all kinds of travelers and a lot of them visit this spectacular city to enjoy its liberal ways of life. Prostitution is legal, laws are LGBT friendly and [if you’re interested] you can legally smoke weed here.

Responses to Coffeeshop Bulldog The First

If you want to eat you need to go to the Bulldog Palace. The coffeeshop has a small menu for food and hot drinks, the Palace has a kitchen and room to cook for you. They have the choice in a rich burger menu, grilled cheese sandwiches (the Dutch Tosti), salads, full English breakfasts, and loads more. After the success of the first coffee shop (and after several attempts at closing them down did nothing but make them more popular) the coffee shop was regulated properly. They opened a second location… then a hotel, the Bulldog Mack bar over in Britain… and three souvenir shops.

I’d definitely suggest to go for Bulldog palace instead.
